Laleston
A Village Full of HistoryPost office
In 1654, military and political leader Oliver Cromwell granted a monopoly to the Office of Postage over the postal delivery services in England. Three years later, fixed postal rates were launched. The General Post Office was established by Charles II in 1660, marking the official launch of the service.
The picture above is of Laleston Post Office in the early 1900's when it was situated at the eastern end of the village, today it in in a central location in front of St Davids Church and also serves as the village shop.
